Frequently Asked Questions

  • How does airbrush tanning work?
Our tanning solution (DHA) reacts with skin proteins, including amino acids, in the outermost layer of skin. The
reaction develops brown skin coloring that mimics a natural tan.  Skin coloration takes anywhere from two to four hours and lasts five to seven days, depending on skin type and aftercare. The airbrush tan fades as the dead layers of skin are naturally exfoliated, just as in normal sun tanning.

  • What is DHA?
DHA (dihydroxyacetone) is an organic, colorless sugar used in airbrush tanning solutions.  It was first approved by the FDA for cosmetic use in 1973.  DHA reacts with the skin to develop a rich, natural looking tan.

  • How will my skin react to DHA and airbrush tanning?
Everybody's skin reacts differently to DHA, although most skin reacts very well to airbrush tanning creating a rich natural looking tan. Therefore, we highly recommend a trial session if you are tanning for a special event.  We offer a special rate on a two session package.

  • How long will my airbrush tan last?
On average, your airbrush tan will last five to seven days, depending on skin type and aftercare.

  • How long should I wait between airbrush tan applications?
We recommend waiting seven to ten days between airbrush applications, your previous airbrush tan should be gone before your next session.

  • Can I airbrush tan if I have any health conditions?
Pregnant women, nursing mothers, and diabetics should consult a doctor before airbrush tanning.  If you've ever had a negative reaction to any type of self tanning product, you should consult a doctor before considering airbrush tanning.

  • What should I wear to my airbrush tan session?
Select an old, preferably dark bathing suit or undergarment to wear while being sprayed. Also remember to bring old, dark-colored, loose-fitting clothing to wear home.  Avoid tight clothing, jeans, socks, and shoes directly after your airbrush tan, these things can hinder the development of your tan.  The tanning solution will wash out of machine washable clothing.
